5 July 2017 - Sichuan, China: Singapore's sole representatives in the Wawu Cup Youth Invitational Tournament, an annual Under-15 international girls tournament which includes representatives from China, France, England, and Singapore, have qualified for the semi-finals. This is the second time the team had advanced to the semi-finals following their inaugural participation in last year's Cup where they finished in fourth place.

The U15 girls came back from being a goal down at half-time to beat the Wuhan Representative Team with an emphatic second half display. Goals from Shaleen Al'vena (Queensway Secondary) and Farah Nurzahirah (East Spring Secondary) within the opening ten minutes of the second half, followed by a brace from club top-scorer Putri Nur Syaliza (Queensway Secondary) helped the team to overturn the deficit in style as they won the match 4-1 and finished the group stage as runners-up of Group A.

Enduring a jittery start to the tournament where they lost their opening match with a 2-0 scoreline to eventual group winners Chongqing Representative Team on Monday, the girls showed great character to bounce back with a 9-0 trouncing of France's Secours Populaire yesterday morning.

14 year old Putri, who scored five goals in yesterday's game, has racked up seven goals to her name, an astronomical figure considering that only three matches were played so far.

Girls Dream Team Circuit FC's Head Coach, Shah, was pleased with his players for their resilience, "We displayed a never-say-die attitude, bouncing back from a defeat in the opening match to win the second match. Today, we displayed the same positive attitude, coming back from a goal down against one of the stronger teams in the competition. I am looking forward to the semi-finals and I am hoping that we will finish among the top three teams in this competition."

The girls will face Group B winners Meishan Representative Team in the semi-finals at 4pm tomorrow.
